Generous Giving

Generosity is central to the Christian life.  God in love and generosity gives himself to us in Jesus.  Jesus in his life, ministry and passion shows generosity to be a life giving way to be.  Generosity is understood to be of God's nature, a nature that we are invited to enter into and emulate.

The most fundamental gift we all have to give is ourselves.  God calls us to give of ourselves to join in with his mission of love, healing and redemption.  Each of us is called to our own specific ministry as we respond to God's generosity and give ourselves, our lives and our efforts back to God in service to others.

Generosity can, and often should, also take the form of financial giving.  All things are God's which includes that wealth that we think of as 'ours'.  God in generosity gives us this wealth to steward as we see fit.  How much to give is a deeply personal thing to which thought and prayer should be given to.  However the following points my help your deliberations on this matter:

  • Giving should be joyful.  If your giving causes you to feel uneasy this is not good.
  • Giving should be sacrificial.  If you don't notice your giving its not sacrificial but "left-overs".
  • Giving should be done freely.  It should never be a result of compulsion or guilt.

Whether you wish to make regular or a one off gift to support the work of these parishes the easiest way to do this is through the Parish Giving Scheme.  This scheme allows you manage regular giving, to link your giving to inflation and, if you are a UK taxpayer, will claim back Gift Aid to make your giving go further.   We have no 'central' bank account for the group so gifts must be made to one of the parishes.  The links below will take you to each parish's page on Parish Giving Scheme.
